Brienz liegt über dem Albulatal und unterhalb eines instabilen Felsformation. Damit nicht zu viel Optimismus aufkommt, rutscht das Dorf zudem mit 1 m / Jahr Richtung Talgrund. Laufende Radarvermessungen sollen einen Bergsturz mit einigen Stunden Vorwarnzeit erkennen – Zeit genug für eine Evakuation.
Brienz is situated above the Albula valley and below an unstable rock formation. In order to avoid too much optimism, the village also slides towards the bottom of the valley at 1 m per year. Ongoing radar measurements are intended to detect a rockslide with a few hours advance warning – enough time for an evacuation.
