Im Sommer 2018 hängt beim Gemeindehaus noch die WK-Liste 2017. Das hätte es im Kalten Krieg wohl nicht gegeben. Dürfen wir daraus schliessen, dass die Welt heute friedlicher ist als vor 30 Jahren? Vermutlich schon, auch wenn uns Funk und Fernsehen täglich eine eindrückliche Sammlung von Konfliktherden frei Haus liefern. Von der Virulenz eine Kubakrise sind wir glücklicherweise noch weit entfernt.
In the summer of 2018, the troop list 2017 will still be hanging at the parish hall. This would probably not have happened during the Cold War. May we conclude from this that the world today is more peaceful than 30 years ago? Probably so, even though radio and television provide us with an impressive collection of trouble spots each day. Fortunately, we are still far away from the virulence of a Cuban crisis.
